4 hashtags that are robbing you

Can I be real? I love knowing that God's word tells me that I am wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14) I think we need to hear this over and over, but I believe there is so much more that is robbing women today of being confident in their true identity.

We can still feel and know that God says we are wonderfully made, but what about the label we can put on ourselves that screams,  Failure, Condemned, Shame and not good enough. Honestly, there have been times when I felt somewhat "beautiful,"but the feelings that these words brought me rocked my confidence in who I was in Christ. Real confidence in who I am came when I decided to accept ALL the things God says about me. It was then I received true freedom to move toward what He was calling me to do.

How many times have we played the "post" in our heads with the perfect hashtags?

·      I can't believe I did it again. I will never get it right and should just give up#FAILURE

·      God will never forgive me for this.  I am a terrible person. #COMDEMNED

·      No one can ever know this.  It will be a part of me forever. I am so embarrassed. #SHAME

·      She is prettier, better and smarter than me. Why is she more successful? #COMPARISON

My friend, these are the labels that we can sometimes wear that rob us from knowing where to place our true identity.  The label we are to wear says, "I am a Child of God." #FREEDOM

·      When feeling like a failure, let us remember God is continuing the work in us until His return (Philippians 1:6).

·      I am so thankful that Romans 8:1 says there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

·      When feeling shameful, Ephesians 1:4 reminds us that God called us blameless before creation.

·      And may we never forget that 2 Corinthians 10:12 declares that we are not to compare our self with others.

Just the week, I was reading something that triggered an old label for me. The answer?  Remove it and shout the truth.  I want to encourage you today to take out, remove, stop watching, scrolling and listening to whatever triggers a hashtag that shouts you are not worthy. Replace them with the truth of God's word.

When we become a child of God, we are not only beautiful, but no longer have to carry the words of failure, condemned, shame or compare ourselves to others.  With that comes freedom to move to the next step of fulfilling the purpose God has for your life.  Think about this.

Personal Reflection

1.    What hashtag or label are you are secretly wearing? (you can keep it to yourself)

2.    What is one step (remove something, memorize a scripture, surround yourself with the truth) that you can take today to move forward.

3.    What would happen if you walked in freedom of whoyou really are in Christ?
