It’s hard not to address the elephant in the room – we are all quarantined, to some extent because of what’s going on in the world with coronavirus. Working from home, school is out for some, and things have slowed dramatically for many of us.
When the news broke that large gatherings were to cease, I was actually in bed sick with a stuffy head and body aches. As I laid in my bed for most of the weekend, mad that I couldn’t take advantage of the time at home with my girls, my head started to spin like so many to all the ‘What ifs?’
But Sunday morning came, and everything changed.
With my body better and my head clear, I began to see the pause that we are all forced to have as an opportunity to reset, reevaluate and ask the questions:
‘What is important?’ ‘What can we do, now?’ ‘What are doing that’s not important?’
A shift is happening worldwide no matter what age, race or demographic we are in, we are being forced to shift and pause in some way. It isn’t life as usual, so what do we do?
Well here’s an idea…
Remember those things God asked you to do that you just kept putting off, what about starting? There’s not a better time than now to start doing the things that you maybe didn’t have time for than this week, when we are staying at home more than usual.
Remember that friend that you’ve been promised to meet up with? Invite her over to your house for coffee or a meal with the family.
What about that book you’ve been wanting to read or write? Start it today.
But most importantly, the time you haven’t had to spend with Jesus, you now have extra time to spend with Him and to know Him more.
I don’t want to minimize what is happening in the world, the hurt, the confusion and those that are sick and affected by what’s happening. But I do want to encourage you to not lose hope, but to have renewed faith as you have the time to spend with your Heavenly Father more than ever before.
The question we constantly ask at CW is “What can I do, now?” Even in this season, there is something God is calling you to or from, so let’s use this pause as an opportunity to reset, reevaluate and connect with friends, family and with our Heavenly Father.
