Recently, I was sharing with a friend some issues going on in my family and caught myself saying something that needed to be checked. I kept saying, "I just feel helpless. There's nothing I can do to fix things. I have no idea what to even do." My friend replied, "First off, there is always something you can do. You can pray."

Of course, I went home and did just that. Now, it didn't fix everything and  erase my problems, but it did help me find some peace. Prayer does that. Sometimes it doesn't make the world just as we want it, but it does remind us of who is in control and it does quiet our hearts in moments of chaos.

So this is just a little reminder this morning. When you think you're helpless and there's nothing you can do, remember that you're not and there is.  It's so easy to forget sometimes that our prayers matter. For me anyways, I realized how false that statement was and how much I was allowing myself to get carried away with my "helplessness". I'm thankful for friends that remind me of the basics sometimes.

Father, thank You for turning Your ear to us. Thank You for making a way for us to enter into Your presence and come to You with our worries and concerns. Holy Spirit, remind us of the power that prayer has in our hearts and lives. We love You and we trust You. Amen.
