Comforting Truth

The lies are the imposters, not you.

There’s a dream in my heart that’s bigger than me. It’s bigger than my bank account, bigger than my courage, bigger than my perceived abilities, bigger than my connections, and even feels bigger than my faith at times. It’s what many of us like to call a God-sized dream and it’s something beautiful that’s planted deep within each one of our hearts. It can be terrifying to pursue what you may feel is “out of your league,” but when you step out into a G.S.D. (God-sized-dream) God is already there proudly waiting to accompany you on your journey.

I believe one of the hardest realities of pursuing your dreams is the mental battle that often comes along with it. Questions like, “What if I fail? What if I succeed? What if ‘they’ find out I’m a fraud? What if the cost for this G.S.D. is too high?” Our minds are bombarded with tons of negative thoughts about how our dream is impossible and, in response, we tend to become riddled with anxiety. So, how do we clear our minds and not freeze from the fears of the unknown? We allow God to comfort us.

Psalms 94:19 says, “When my anxious inner thoughts become overwhelming, your comfort encourages me.” This verse reveals to us a powerful weapon to use against our overwhelming thoughts—God’s Word and promises. His Word reminds us that we’re not alone on this journey. His Word reminds us that our worth is not stored up in the opinions of others but in the truth of His declarations. His word reminds us that He will never call us to go where he doesn’t already reside. And his word reminds us to trust in Him because he is good, worthy to be praised, and worthy to be wholly trusted.

When the enemy comes in like a flood and attempts to snatch your footing and submerge you in anxiety, remember this: you are a daughter of The King, and if God says go, there’s no safer place to be than in his will. You, dear sister, are a treasure and a gift and we need to experience the dream that resides within you.

Reflection

  1. What’s your G.S.D. (or the dream that makes you the most nervous)?

  2. What anxious thoughts tend to stop you from moving forward?

  3. What’s the biblical truth in response to the lies you sometimes hear?

Goals

Write down 3 verses that give you comfort and encouragement when anxious. Declare them out loud and share them with a friend.

"When my anxious inner thoughts become overwhelming,
