Make the Dream Great Again

My body is changing!   I am in a new season of life with teenagers at home.   I am in the last year of a decade with a big birthday around the corner. While drinking coffee early one morning, I wondered how  this affects the dreams, passion and calling God has for my life. What is the next step?  What am I to do?  As I spent some time in prayer, the Lord made it clear to me- it doesn't affect anything.  I do not  need a new dream.  He is perfecting what He already created me the day I was born.

Recently, I found a leadership assessment I completed almost 12 years ago. In it, I had to list the parts of my job that brought me excitement and enjoyment the most. In bold print was training, developing others and teaching. Anything outside of that drained me.  This made me smile as I fast forward to what I am doing today; training, developing, teaching and now individual coaching for a large organization. And I have the opportunity to help women within my church and Created Woman.  You see my gifts, passions and talents did not change, but the venue for where God has placed me to do it has changed.

Sometimes when I enter a new season or grow complacent, it can be easy to think, I am done or wonder what I am to do.   But, you see, God does not change our DNA.   He created us in our mother's womb with unique gifts and talents that we are to grow and develop to be used for His glory, not our own.

My life verse that brought me so much comfort and assurance 15 years ago is still the same.   "He who began a good work in me will finish it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil 1:9) So as I enter a new season which brings reflection, God has been gently reminding me that those things He put in my heart are the still the same, and are to be used with a renewed passion and energy.   There is no new dream.   I am to make the dream great again over and over by staying renewed in Him and focusing on the gifts and talents He gave me.

Reflection

  1. What are the gifts and talents God has given you?

  2. How are you staying renewed by seeking the Lord each day?

  3. As you grow as a woman, how are you continuing to use the gifts God has given you for His purpose?

He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ

 (Philippians 1:6 ESV)
