Because God Said “Go” What’s your go?

Still relishing in the tears and awe factor of our team meeting, (Journal entry #7) I begin to wonder and pray, how do we begin? Gosh, this is such a big dream…a big vision. What’s the next step, how do we begin?

You have purposed me, the CW Family, to help women identify their purpose, who you created them to be, but how do we even begin that process? It’s too big, too heavy, too much. Maybe I heard wrong…

No.

How?

I remember that faithful Friday morning of our team meeting sitting on the bar stool in the middle of my living room with everyone’s eyes staring back at me as I sat under what felt like a spot light. Barbara kept asking “Why” over and over until finally the words began spilling out: “Because God said ‘Go’ so we have to go and so many women don’t know their go. They don’t even know what it looks like. They don’t have a vision much less a sense of purpose. Without that, how do they go?”

They don’t. They sit on the sidelines stuck in routine.

I remember a time when I didn’t know my go. I sat in a crowded room listening to a man I never heard of before by the name of Myles Monroe. I was just a young executive running in for a lunch meeting for business leaders in my cute suit and heels. I was in the middle of climbing the corporate ladder pursuing the dreams I had since I was a little girl, to be in the fashion world .To be honest, the meeting for me was more about getting out of work that day for an hour or two than anything else.

But there I was sitting in the balcony with my notepad, a coat of fresh lipstick applied, ready to listen all the while watching the clock. It was in that moment that God did something out of the blue that changed the trajectory of my life with 3 simple questions. (Psst…This is where you grab your journal.)

  • What would you do for free?
  • What is your passion?
  • Would you continue in your current job for free?

Funny thing is, I could answer every question with ease but what came as a shock to me was this: The very dream I had been climbing the ladder for was the very thing I realized in that moment I had lost the passion for and there was no way I would do it for free!

With the realization that my dream and my goals were not lining up with my passion anymore, God was able to come in and openly start giving me directions, the roadmap, for my “Go.”

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways,”

declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts…”

Isaiah 58:8-9

I may not have known the name Myles Monroe almost 15 years ago, but he became a mentor from afar that day and still is even though he is now in Heaven. Just yesterday, his words stung me again when I read this quote:

“Purpose is when you know and understand what you were born to accomplish. Vision is when you see it in your mind and begin to imagine it.” Dr. Myles Monroe

Purpose. Vision. Two powerful words that get tossed around as if they are balls in a court trying to get through the hoop of life, yet all too often no one ever catches them. They just linger in the air because we don’t know how to catch them or are afraid of what will happen if we do. How will our life change? What if I can’t get it through the hoop or over the finish line?

It’s there, in that place, my go comes into play. To help women discover their go, how to catch it and get it over the finish line.

So back to that day, sitting on the bar stool, all ears open to the question, “Why?” It’s because we are called to “Go.” That’s why.

That’s why we exist.

That’s why we keep pursuing you.

That’s why we want to gather.

Yes, gather. That’s our next “Go.” To gather.

Gather the women. Gather our team. Gather a community of women who will go together. Our next step is to gather women, you, on a regular basis so we can help them discover their “Go.” Whether it’s finding a new direction, changing directions or discovering what exactly that is, we are here for you.

Will you come? Will you go?

But where, when, and how. That’s the next big question. Will you help us answer that? After all, we can’t go unless we know where, right? (Survey Link here)

I leave you with this thought today to ponder and journal about this week: What’s your “Go”? It doesn’t have to be glamorous, popular, seen by all or even on a stage. It just has to be yours.

What’s your go?
