Wait, What Am I Supposed to Be Doing?

Finding & Identifying your purpose in Christ.

Purpose. I feel like so much pressure comes around that word. Pressure, and sometimes uncertainty. It may sound like, “what am I supposed to be doing? How am I supposed to be doing it, and  How in the world am I going to make it happen?”

Sometimes, scary phrases tend to cause us to lose focus on the reason why we are here. Don't get me wrong, it is very important to know your specific purpose in life and what God is calling you to do, but it might not be as hard as you think.

In 1 Peter 2:9 -10, it says, “but you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood and a holy nation. Gods’ special possession that you might declare the praises of him who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” Just that scripture alone tells us the basics of what we are supposed to do, and until we get that down, we won't be able to tap into how God wants us to use our individuality to carry out that purpose in our own special creative way.

I know  that personally, I overthink things. A LOT. Most of the time the answer is simple. So, if you find yourself struggling trying to find your purpose, here is a good starting point. Declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light, and the rest will start to make sense. (hopefully, ha-ha).

You may be wondering how you are supposed to launch what God has called you to do; how  to incorporate your talents and gifts into your purpose in life. Well,  only God has the answer to that, but I do know that your dreams, talents and amazing creativity comes from the Lord, and it will all be used if you allow Him, for His glory.

So, continue to make the vision plain, continue to love, continue to help those in need. In Ephesians 4:2, it says, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient bearing with one another in love.” Jesus himself was moved by compassion when He healed. That is what he wants us to ultimately do. He has made you special in His sight. When we get the basics of our purpose down, start with praising the Lord, and humbly bear with others in love. The rest, with proper planning, strategy, wisdom and community, will all fall into place. And if you are already walking in your purpose, don't forget to help those who might  be standing at the start line.

I personally am good at DIY. I can literally watch any YouTube video on anything and pretty much have it down pat. So, with all my special talents, sometimes I question exactly what I am supposed to be doing. Sometimes, in certain seasons, I feel like I'm doing the right thing. In the next moment, I can feel like maybe this is not where I belong, but I find peace knowing that I am loving others and being a light. Every time I am obedient, he guides me right back on my path to fun, fulfilled, messy, crazy big, dreamy purpose!
